PASTOR. ELDERS. BOARD
JEFFREY Chambers
LEAD PASTOR
Pastor Jeffrey and his family joined OVAC in 2022.
I’ve been married to my wife, Lizzy for 11 years and we have a 2 year old son, David. Our older son is 27 and he lives in California.
I am born and raised in California with a background in education and spent my early career in outdoor education.
In 2011, I went on staff with Young Life on a Military base, until we were called to move to Chelan, WA and I was an associate Pastor for 6 years. God called us out of church ministry for a season and I went back on Young Life Staff in the Tri- Cities, sharing Jesus with high school kids.
I coach high school football and the biggest fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In fact, all of my dogs are named after players.
I have my BA in Education with a minor in History. A Master’s in Education and a Master in Christian Ministry.
I became a Christian when I was 30 years old, since then I have had a desire to share Jesus with my community, friends and family.
JOE LAGROU
ELDER
Joe and Shelly LaGrou were married in 1985 having been friends at Omak High School and each having come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ between the ages of 13 and 16. Throughout their friendship, courtship, and marriage, Jesus Christ has been the third cord of their relationship, "three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12." They were blessed to have their family grow through the years with five wonderful children and now many grandchildren. They have been a part of Okanogan Valley Alliance Church since its inception in November 1996. They have served the church in various roles from Joe being an Elder, Interim Pastor, adult Sunday school teacher, church board member, and Awana leader; and Shelly serving many years in the nursery, as an Awana leader, worship team leader, mission's' mobilizer, church board member, church treasurer and secretary, among others. They have both made mission's trips apart and together to Honduras, Mexico, Mongolia, and Russia. Joe worked 37 years in public education as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Shelly worked as a teacher, secretary, and bookkeeper in public school, private school, and business. Most recently they have volunteered locally in the church and community as English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers. Joe recently became an ordained pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, and the couple is praying and seeking how God may use them.
Joe's favorite Bible verse: I Corinthians 10:31 (NIV), "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
